December is upon us, and time to officially start the Christmas countdown.

In “normal” times that means staff Christmas parties, girls brunches and family gatherings. While this year’s celebration will look a little different, that doesn’t mean you need to give up on your traditions. There’s plenty you can do to get in the holiday spirit. And naturally, there’s a wine to go with that!

  1. Blast your favourite holiday playlist.

We love the Hanson or Mariah Carey Christmas albums but Kitsch Wines has taken it a step further and created the quintessential holiday playlist for you to enjoy while sipping on their wines of course!. Everything from Mariah Carey, to Bing Crosby, and Run – DMC, this list has every holiday song you want to listen to and songs you didn’t realize you needed to hear.  We highly recommend pairing this playlist with their Pinot Noir. Sultry, romantic, and everything in between, this Pinot Noir is full of fresh strawberries, dark cherries, and a touch of earth.

PS: When the holidays are over, make sure to check out the other playlists Kitsch has created for your listening pleasure. (Something for every season and reason)

  1. Binge on Christmas movies

Okay, even the toughest critic has to admit how much they love a cheesy Christmas Hallmark movie this time of year. We say put on your favourite Christmas flick, be it a sappy romance or a comedy, grab a big bowl of popcorn and open the Quail’s Gate Rosemary’s Block Chardonnay. Made from their premium Chardonnay, this wine is barrel fermented and is every bit of that delicious full-body white that you’re imagining. Flavours of stone fruit, butterscotch and citrus, linger on the palate while the acid cuts through the butteriness of your popcorn. If you haven’t had it before, Chardonnay and popcorn are a match made in heaven. Don’t be afraid to take your popcorn to the next level by adding some extra butter and a hint of truffle salt. It is the holidays after all.

  1. Set Up Your Christmas Decorations

If you’re like us, you’re not into full holiday spirit until all your decorations are up and the Christmas tree is perfect. It’s the best way to reminisce about all your favourite Christmas memories from over the years, and the contentment of having family around. A moment like this calls for a wine that is going to warm your heart and there’s no other than Niche Wine Co.’s Extra Mile Foch. Made from the best three barrels, this Foch has aromas of chocolate, vanilla, and coconut. This full-bodied wine will keep you motivated with flavours of blackberry, and plum, having you going back for more as your inner perfectionist gets those decorations just right.

  1. Holiday baking with your kids

Flour. So. Much. Flour. The clean up may be messy, but the memories will be forever so enjoy the experience. Plus you can take away some of the mess stress by sipping on fun and fuss-free bubbles while the kids are elbow-deep in the dough. Try the  Intrigue Wines Social Bubbly. This frizzante style wine has the perfect amount of bubble, and flavours of baking spices, apple, and apricot. Intrigue suggests pairing this with apple pie and ice cream, but we think it would be great with your shortbread candy canes too!
