benjamin-bridge-nova-7-sparkling-2016Benjamin Bridge Nova 7 Sparkling 2016

This spritzy sparkler is the answer to all of your Summer sipping problems! A bit sweeter, it’s made for pairing poolside with the girls!

Tasting Note: In its tenth vintage now, the 2016 shows a very faint rose gold colour with the characteristic aromas of sweet honey suckle, marigold blossoms, asian pear, and fresh stone fruit. Very lightly effervescent, the mid-palate shows creamy and sweet orchard fruit and fresh ginger, all backed with crisp and refreshing acidity on the long finish. Beautifully balanced, this off-dry wine is loaded with refreshing minerality making it a great choice for east coast seafood appetizers, sushi, tart berry desserts, or simply to enjoy on its own. Score – 94. (Matt Steeves, quercusvino.ca, April 2017) via LCBO

southbrook-triomphe-chardonnay-2015Southbrook Triomphe Chardonnay 2015

Aptly named the ‘Bad Angel’ Chardonnay, this wine has been known to make even the good girls go bad in the Summertime!

Tasting Note: Such a nice wine at a delicious price point, look for a nose of bright apple, creamy pear and a smidge of peach, smoky/leesy notes and integrated oak spice. Shows elegance on the palate with creamy orchard fruits, seamless spice and a juicy, finessed finish. Score – 90. (Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com, Feb. 6, 2017) via LCBO

mission-hill-reserve-shiraz-2013Mission Hill Reserve Shiraz 2013

British Columbia wines are having a moment right now. With its warmer climate and lush growing conditions, there is nothing not to love about this big, bold red from BC!

Tasting Note: Peppery and terrifically aromatic, Mission Hill’s reserve shiraz is spicy and playful but with elegance and freshness. Great expression of the grape varietal with a mid-weight, juicy palate offering generous fruit and supple tannins. Very good length. Score – 90. (Sara d’Amato, winealign.com, Dec. 10, 2015) via LCBO
