The Best Wine Cocktails of Summer 2020

Wine is a perfect sipper on its own, but summer is all about adding in a little “extra”.

If you are looking for something fun and refreshing to beat the summer heat or something to impress your guests, here are three easy cocktails you can make with your favourite wines.

Rosé Spritzer
Pink, fruity rosé pairs perfectly with citrus and soda to create a low-alcohol, grapefruit and rosé spritzer.

What you need:
3oz rosé wine
2oz club soda or sparkling water
A pink grapefruit

What you do:
Pour rosé and soda into a flute, add a generous squeeze of grapefruit juice to flute. You can add simple syrup if you like your cocktails a bit sweeter.

Frozen + rosé = Frosé, the perfect hybrid between a cocktail and dessert.

What you need:
Bottle of rosé (pinot noir rosé works best)
½ cup sugar
½ cup water
1 cup strawberries, hulled, quartered
Fresh lemon juice

What you do:
Pour your bottle of rosé into a 13×9″ cake pan and freeze until almost solid (it won’t completely solidify because of the alcohol), at least 6 hours. Meanwhile, bring sugar and water to a boil in a medium saucepan, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves. Add strawberries, remove from heat, and let sit 30 minutes to infuse syrup with strawberry flavor. Strain liquid through a sieve (save some strawberries for garnish) and chill. Scrape frozen rosé into a blender. Add juice from half a lemon, 2-3 ounces of strawberry syrup and purée until smooth. Divide among glasses. Top with a few of the leftover strawberries.

Raspberry Peach Prosecco punch
Bubbly is perfect for any occasion, but this Prosecco punch is next-level delicious.

What you need:
Frozen raspberries, thawed (about ½ cup)
Frozen peaches, thawed (about 1 cup)
1 bottle Prosecco or Prosecco style wine, chilled
Ice cubes

What you do:
Put the thawed raspberries with their juice in a large glass pitcher. Add the thawed peaches with their juice. Top with Prosecco. Fill the rest of the pitcher with ice cubes. Stir and serve cold.

All of these wine cocktails are super easy and quick to make and don’t need a lot of ingredients, so you can spend less time making them and more time sipping them! Cheers!
