The Okanagan has transitioned into fall. Harvest is in full swing, the leaves are changing colours, and there’s a chill in the air. The best part about fall in our opinion is Thanksgiving weekend. Turkey, pumpkin pie, and sipping on your favourite wines are the perfect way to spend the long weekend with family and loved ones. Here are our top wine picks for this Thanksgiving weekend.

Ramification Cellars Verification Pinot Noir

We recently discovered this winery, and are so glad we did! Located at the top end of Oliver, Ramification Cellars is surrounded by natural beauty everywhere you look. Longhorn sheep graze the mountainside, and the tasting room overlooks Vaseux Lake. Our favourite wine from here is their Verification Pinot Noir. Light in body, it is loaded with bright fruit notes of cherry, spice, and everything nice.

Kitsch Wines 11 Barrel Chardonnay

Kitsch Wines is located in East Kelowna, and have been the coolest kids on the block since they opened their doors. If you’re looking for pretentiousness, we suggest looking somewhere else as that is not what owners Trent & Ria Kitsch are about. The tasting room and winemaking all happen in the garage of Trent’s parent’s house, which has beautiful views overlooking Kelowna and the lake. Their 11 Barrel Chardonnay instantly became our go-to wine when we tried it. You could say it was love at first sip. Beautiful notes of grilled pineapple, brioche, caramel, and red apple are found on the nose and palate, making it one harmonious experience.

Tender Hope Rosé Bubbles

In our opinion, you can’t have a big dinner without having some form of bubble included. Lucky for us, and you, Tender Hope Winery has the perfect option. Located in West Kelowna, this winery doesn’t have a tasting room which means online ordering or finding it at a liquor store are your only options. Owner and Winemaker Efi Perel, sources from only the best vineyards in the Okanagan and this means he’s creating outstanding wines every time. His Rosé Bubble is no exception. The perfect amount of bubble dances on your palate, with notes of strawberry, cranberry, and melon. Bubbles are incredibly versatile and can be enjoyed at any point in your meal.
